|---|---|
| Aldergrove |
| Carson |
| Cascade |
| Chopaka |
| Fraser |
| Midway |
| Nelway |
| Pleasant Camp |
| Waneta |

Canada to Adjust Hours at 26 Land Border Crossings on November 1: What BC Travellers Should Know
If you plan to drive between Canada and the United States from November onward, check the updated operating hours before travelling.
On October 9, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced changes to service hours at 26 land ports of entry across British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba. The changes affect nine crossings in BC, four in Alberta and 13 in Manitoba. Details are available in the official announcements for Alberta and Manitoba.
The adjustments follow the three provinces’ adoption of permanent year-round daylight saving time. Since neighbouring US jurisdictions will continue changing their clocks seasonally, the revised hours will keep services coordinated on both sides of the border.
In BC, the new hours take effect at 2:00 a.m. on November 1, 2026, and remain in place until 2:00 a.m. on March 14, 2027. All times below are Pacific Time.
The following traveller service hours apply seven days a week:
| BC border crossing | Traveller service hours |
|---|---|
| Aldergrove | 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. the following day |
| Carson | 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. |
| Cascade | 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. |
| Chopaka | 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. |
| Fraser | 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. the following day |
| Midway | 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. |
| Nelway | 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. |
| Pleasant Camp | 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. the following day |
| Waneta | 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. |
Commercial service hours differ at some crossings, including weekday and holiday restrictions. Refer to the official CBSA announcement for BC for the full schedule.
This announcement concerns border operating hours. Its immediate impact on travellers is practical: when to arrive, whether the selected crossing will be open, and whether an alternative route is needed.
From a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) perspective, another distinction matters: an open border crossing does not mean every immigration procedure is available during those hours. Clients travelling for a specific immigration purpose should confirm the services offered at their chosen port of entry and the requirements applicable to their circumstances before making travel arrangements.
Before departure, check operating hours on both the Canadian and US sides, pay attention to local time zones, and allow extra time for traffic and border queues. Travellers planning an evening crossing should avoid scheduling their arrival just before closing.
If you already have a land-border trip planned for November or later, review your route and expected arrival time now. A little preparation can help prevent an unexpected detour or a delay caused by arriving after the crossing has closed.
